Some attorneys have dreamt since childhood of becoming the next Atticus Finch, Matlock, or Johnnie Cochran. Adam Fetterman wanted to be a race car driver. He took the long way to get there.

Growing up in south Florida, Adam spent his after-school hours helping his parents in their small, growing law firm and his weekends watching races at the old Moroso racetrack. He got his first job outside the family at the age of fourteen as a bag boy at Publix and worked there all through high school.

Like many kids who want to escape their small-town life, Adam left for Boston and attended Brandeis University, where he earned a bachelor’s degree in Anthropology. After a stint studying and writing poetry and cooking in restaurants, Adam realized law school might present a better opportunity to explore his strengths. He was right, and graduated with honors from the University of Miami School of Law, where he served as Editor-in-Chief of the Business Law Journal, interned for a federal judge, and competed on the national trial competition team.

After launching his legal career in the mountains of North Carolina (where he is still licensed to practice), Adam returned to Florida to put down roots, start a family, and build his practice. Building on a foundation of public service developed as General Counsel to St. Lucie County Sheriff Ken Mascara, Adam stepped into politics and had the honor of representing the Treasure Coast as a member of the Florida House of Representatives from 2008 to 2010. His experience inspired him to use his leadership skills to serve many charitable organizations and initiatives and build a law practice serving the needs of small businesses, non-profits, and local governments.

Service to the community is a core value for Adam.  In 2012, he and his wife Mindi founded The Inner Truth Project, a nonprofit organization dedicated to the needs of survivors of sexual abuse and rape. As chair of the St. Lucie Children’s Coalition, he led a team to save the Children’s Services Council of St. Lucie County and guarantee its continued existence. He has led numerous community building initiatives including successful campaigns to fund school security needs, critical capital development, and crucial county-wide infrastructure.

Adam has served on the boards of the Boys and Girls Clubs, Healthy Start Coalition, and the Florida Justice Association, and volunteered for numerous local organizations. He currently  serves as President of the statewide Florida Association of Police Attorneys and on the Board of Trustees for St. Lucie Medical Center. In 2018, he completed Leadership Florida’s Cornerstone program, Class XXXVI, one of fifty leaders chosen annually from around the state to work together to build a better Florida.

And in 2010, he finally started down the path to make his childhood dream come true. On the weekends you can find him on the racetrack, not on the sidelines, racing all over the state of Florida, with his son Noah as his crew chief. When not racing, Adam and his family enjoy rock-and-roll, bicycling, watersports, cooking.
